Our client, a leading international player within the online entertainment sector, as they expand their operations within the regulated Canadian market, they are seeking a dedicated and experienced Regulatory Operations Officer to join the team and ensure the adherence to all applicable Canadian gaming laws and regulations.
Job Summary:
The Regulatory Operations Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring that their online gambling operations in Canada comply with all provincial and federal regulations. This position requires a deep understanding of the Canadian online gaming landscape, including the specific regulatory frameworks of provinces like Ontario (AGCO and iGaming Ontario). The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented professional with demonstrable experience in the Canadian gambling sector, responsible for managing regulatory submissions, monitoring compliance, and serving as a key liaison with regulatory bodies.
Responsibilities:
Monitor, interpret, and ensure compliance with all applicable online gaming laws, regulations, and standards across all operational provinces in Canada.
Act as a primary point of contact for Canadian regulatory bodies, including the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and iGaming Ontario. Manage all regulatory communications, inquiries, and submissions.
Prepare and manage all necessary documentation for license applications, renewals, and regular reporting to regulatory authorities, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
Develop, implement, and maintain internal compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to Canadian gaming regulations. This includes areas such as Responsible Gambling, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and player protection.
Conduct regular internal audits and risk assessments of their operations, products, and marketing activities to identify and mitigate potential compliance risks.
Stay abreast of all changes and updates to Canadian gambling legislation and regulatory requirements and effectively communicate these changes to internal stakeholders.
Work closely with various internal teams, including Legal, Marketing, Product, and Operations, to embed a culture of compliance and ensure that all business activities are in line with regulatory expectations.
Develop and deliver compliance-related training to employees to ensure a thorough understanding of their regulatory obligations.
Investigate and respond to any potential compliance breaches or incidents in a timely and effective manner, and report to regulatory bodies as required.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, or a related field.
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a regulatory compliance role within the online gambling or gaming industry is essential.
In-depth, current knowledge and hands-on experience with the Canadian online gambling regulatory framework, particularly the regulations set forth by the AGCO and iGaming Ontario.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Deep understanding of Canadian gaming laws, technical standards, and internal controls.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex regulatory information to a variety of audiences.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a proven ability to identify, assess, and resolve regulatory issues.
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all regulatory submissions and compliance documentation.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
A self-starter who can work independently and take initiative to drive compliance efforts.
